Jan Paul Buijs

Board Member

Jan Paul (JP) was born on September 24, 1963 in The Hague, The Netherlands and has been living in Belgium with his partner Hilde since 2009. After studying biology and computer science in Leiden, he spent more than 10 years at Dr. Neherlab working on AI systems in which the lab was a global leader. After a few jobs in various hi-tech start-ups around the dot-com crisis, he switched to the energy sector in 2003, where he fulfilled various (international) positions at the interface of technology, digital transformation and organizational change. In 2018 he started his own company and in that year he also started a company around digital transformations with three partners. Already in 2017, he made the decision to use his knowledge and experience, independently of reward and calculation, for what is needed to make our human impact on the planet more sustainable, socially just and spiritually fulfilling, inspired by the heart. From December 2021 he started working on this full-time, mainly through the projects and activities of Picaflores.org and Tonkiry.org.

ALPEREN DIKICI

Board Member

Alperen was born and raised in Konya, the city of great sufi poet Rumi in Turkey. After his bachelor’s degree in law, he emigrated to Belgium in 2019 where he continued his studies in the direction of IT and quality assurance (QA). He started his own company in Belgium and taught himself the marketing, sales, customer service and accounting skills needed for small business entrepreneurship. Alperen is a well-known Sema dancer and also plays the Ney flute in the tradition of the Mewlewi order founded in the 13th century by Jalaluddin Rumi. He regularly performs the Sema in various countries in Europe, often in an ecumenical context. Alperen is driven to contribute to a more livable, socially just world and with his extensive network and involvement in Picaflores realizes tangible results.

GAB MULDER

Board Member

Gab Mulder was born on April 8, 1951 in Delft, The Netherlands. In addition to his career at the largest telecom company in the Netherlands, he has always been involved in marine biology and malacology in particular. For a long time he was secretary of the Biologia Maritima foundation and after the merger with the Dutch Malacological Association (NMV) he has been a board member and secretary of the NMV and is now archivist of the NMV. He is a guest employee of Naturalis in Leiden, which is one of the most important natural history museums in the world, and has been team leader of the digitization project of the extensive natural history collection. Gab was also a guest employee of Staatsbosbeheer for quite some time. Since May 1, 2023, he has joined the board of ANBI foundation Picaflores.org.

Peter Rouffa

Senior Designer • Advisor to the Board

Peter Rouffa was born in Wilrijk (Antwerp), Belgium in 1963 and lives in the Belgian Ardennes with his wife Marie. After his training as an illustrator in various academies for fine arts, Lier, Merksem and Liège, he worked as a freelancer for 15 years for various publishers, including the Standard publisher, the Zuid-Nederlandse publisher and Dupuis. He then set up his own communications company (Kabloonak Communications) for graphic design and printing, web design and website development. From his base in the Belgian Ardennes, he has been committed to the well-being of people for many years from his own organization. Nature and man are ready for change and in his contributions and advise to Picaflores.org he shares his knowledge, experience and heart..

Theo Fens

Senior Advisor to the Board

Theo Fens is an experienced professional with a broad industrial background. His work experience spans more than 40 years in industry (process control, telecom, oil and gas engineering), consultancy (energy markets and IT), and research (physics and economics). In addition, Theo has been a senior research fellow at Delft University of Technology for more than 15 years and has been involved in the Energy Delta Institute since 2006 as core lecturer Energy Markets. Theo has a background in electrical engineering and physics, and has a PhD in experimental physics. Theo’s career started in the industry where he worked for several years at various engineering firms and industrial supply companies on the design and realization of systems. At KPN Research he spent 6 years researching telecommunications technology with the focus on operational applications. Theo then spent 15 years at Shell as a petrophysicist and researcher, and had been involved in the development of oil and gas fields. At Capgemini, Theo spent 6 years as principal consultant in the energy sector. After that, he worked as a consultant and board member of UCPartners for 9 years in the energy sector. Since 2014, he has been a member of the assessment committee for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in the field of energy matters. In addition, Theo is scientific advisor at Deloitte, as an advisor to Driven by Values (circular economy) and the Global Gas Networks Initiative (GGNI) that markets Dutch energy knowledge outside the Netherlands. As a consultant at Picaflores, Theo wants to use his knowledge and experience to further realize a sustainable society in which people can live in symbiosis with the nature given to us.

CEES BUIJS

Senior Advisor to the Board

Dutchman, born in The Hague in 1958. After completing his education at The Hague Higher Hotel School, he held a number of senior management positions in the aviation industry and other sectors. In 1993 he founded his own company with the aim of using his expertise to streamline the processes in companies in such a way that (again) a healthy organization is created. In twenty years he has successfully served more than 60 companies and has thus continuously updated and expanded his expertise. After 20 years in mainly very hectic work environments, he wanted to change course in order to use his knowledge, experience, strength and heart for people and the environment. In his contributions to Picaflores.org, Cees brings in ideas about previously developed concepts and recently developed insights.
